Hibernating

Well, it’s been a while since I’ve posted anything on Tweak!, yet I continue see activity on and off the site from new listeners and loyal fans. First off, my apologies to both for my recent absence over the past couple months. I recognize that I’ve been a bit negligent. After all I’m the one who setup a site and podcast, invited people to join me in my journey and pursuit of the freelance lifestyle and then suddenly disappeared. Believe me it hasn’t been easy.

I think watching something you’ve put so much work into slowly fade out is a bit like watching an old friend slip into a coma. You know you should visit, talk to them, bring them flowers, but somehow it’s easier to just avoid the issue and go about your daily life. But all the while there’s this little voice in your head telling you that they may not be always be there, waiting patiently in hibernation for you to visit. The truth is I haven’t just been avoiding Tweak!, or any of you, I’ve been a bit swamped lately. My work load is at an all time high, which is good but leaves me little free time. The other small change in my life is the onset of fatherhood. Yeah, I know it’s scary to think of me as a father, but one week from Friday my beautiful wife will be due to bring our first child into this world. It’s a girl by the way!

So, in short my life is busy. I know what you’re thinking, who’s isn’t? And you’re right. I don’t want Tweak! to fade out and die. I would like nothing more than to see it thrive, grow and continue to help and encourage people. I just need a little bit of time for my life to settle down a bit. I also wouldn’t mind a little help if anyone’s interested. If you’ve got some experience under your belt, a way with words and a desire to give back, I’d love to add you as an author to Tweak!. Just shoot me an email. Thank you all for your patience and encouragement, I look forward to the revival.

  • Josh,
First thing is first: CONGRATULATIONS! I can only imagine the various feelings that are running through your mind. Good luck and God bless you and your expanding family.

I have to admit, I’d love to see Tweak! updated more frequently, however, I understand that it’s only a website (albeit by a very good writer/designer) and that life sometimes gets in the way of itself. While your subscriptions may fall as the site’s updates get more infrequent, there will still be many of us that’ll wait patiently for your next post!

    Congrats again!

  • Thanks Josh for letting us know you’re still there. If you would just check in from time to time (like you did here) it would be greatly appreciated! We all eagerly await your next podcast!

  • Oh my goshhh! Josh congratulations! That’s fantastic. How exciting. I’m sure she’ll be a very lovely little girl.

And as any freelancer or creative person knows, we have tons of different personal projects, but understand that work comes first.

    Don’t worry about it ;)

    Congratulations again!

  • So this is how goodbye feels? You can’t break up with with me… nobody breaks-up with me… because I dumped you first.

  • Josh, it’s okay. On the flip-side, I’ve been negligent about visiting the site! :D

Glad to see I haven’t missed too much.

    Congrats as well!

  • Hi Josh. Congratulations!
I just discovered your podcast and it’s wonderful down to the very last note. It’s everything I wish I would have known before I went freelance. I understand commiting yourself to something so time demanding can be a horrid, stressful thing but know that there are many of us waiting patiently behind the scenes for your next update.

Maybe don’t be so hard on yourself and say you’ll update once a month or things like that? I wouldn’t be upset by that at all.

    Best Wishes

  • Hey Josh,

Just wanted to add my two cents to the mix.

Firstly, congrats on being a father! I have recently become an uncle 2x over and it’s a lot of fun. I have two nieces and it’s amazing to watch them grow!

Secondly, I just wanted to say thanks for Tweak! I have been going through the episodes and have really enjoyed them. You present your ideas clearly and have given me some pointers that have improved my approach as a freelancer. So thanks!

Hope all is well with you and your family.
    Thanks again for the Tweak!,
